Morwell and District Community Recovery Committee chair Carolyne Boothman has expressed concerns surrounding an independent study commissioned by the State Government into coal ash residue in Morwell roof cavities following the 2014 Hazelwood mine fire.

The Morwell and Districts Community Recovery Committee is pleased in making available to stakeholders and the community both the Morwell North Neighbourhood Resilience Plan for 2016 and Morwell North Survey Report.
Members of the committee are unanimously confident that these reports and the actions that will be initiated from them henceforth-will ensure the people of Morwell’s northern neighbourhoods have their needs and desires met going foward. Given these reports are underpinned by extensive community consultation, we are sure they will significantly improve the quality of life for Northen Morwellian’s and the broader Morwell community.
The committee extends its thanks to the Latrobe City Councils ‘Community Resilience Team,’ for their efforts in formulating these reports and working to ensure they are acted upon.
The committee also thank’s the good people of the northern neighbourhoods of Morwell for the great enthusiasm and willingness to participate shown in the process of formulating these reports.
The Morwell and Districts Community Recovery Committee on behalf of the EPA(Environmental Protection Agency), is pleased to advocate an expression of interest to members of the Community to attend an information session on ‘getting involved in improving air quality monitoring for the Latrobe Valley.’ This session will specifically encompass information on getting involved in the co-designing of air monitoring.
The session will occur on Wednesday the 24th of August at the Morwell Bowling Club, Hazelwood Road Morwell.The session will commence at 5:30pm and conclude at 7:30pm. .

ENGIE Hazelwood invites members of the community to attend its forthcoming ENGIE Hazelwood Community Consultation session to be held Wednesday 22 June, 5pm at the Morwell RSL(Corner of Elgin and Tarwin Streets Morwell.)
The session will involve presentations by senior management at ENGIE, which will include an overview of the work plan variation to address the requirements of the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources’ ‘Risk Assessment Management Plan’ and allow feedback from attendees.
